Spring

Well, if you haven't been following what I've been up to lately, let me fill you in! April was a very busy month--as it always is--in addition to several awesome quartet shows at Cafe Django, and a great big band show at the Video Saloon, the Big Band and I made our debut in the Jazz Fables concert series at Bear's Place in Bloomington. We played for the annual Charles Mingus tribute and pulled out some of my old Mingus arrangements as well as some new ones I did just for that show. The band played phenomenally and we all had a great time hanging with David Miller and the rest of the guys at Bears. It was really cool to play at that venue because it is one of the most historic places to play in town. I've seen Eric Alexander there, Scott Wendholt, David Baker, Jerry Bergonzi, George Garzone, the list goes on and on. Anyway it was a real honor to be included with all of those great players. If anyone picked up a copy of the Herald Times today they should have seen an article Ron Kadish was kind enough to do on me. Ron is a great guy and a beautiful player so it was great to do that with him. Tomorrow the Big Band is going to be doing its graduation show at the Player's Pub, so I hope everyone who can comes out for that. It should be a lot of fun, Kristin Cazenave, David Woger, Randy Smith and John Vallejo are joining us so it should be a great hang. After that the guys and I are heading up to my Alma Mater in Eau Claire Wisconsin to do a show at the Grand Little Theater. I'm really pumped about that show because in addition to Ken and Nick Syman and John Vallejo, we're going to be playing with some super heavy guys from the Twin Cities like Paul Stodolka, Jeff Walk, and Aaron Hedenstrom. That band is going to be stacked! Anyway that's what is going on with me, be sure to check out the calender for all of my upcoming shows. I should be adding some new ones in the next few days!
